At a reception at Bute House last night, the First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, got to hear about InkstersPlug & Play Law model from Brian Inkster.

The reception was to recognise the achievements of small businesses across Scotland.

FSB Celebrating Small Business Award Winners

FSB Celebrating Small Business Award Winners from 2020 and 2022 came together to hear the First Minister and FSB’s National Chair, Martin McTague, mark the achievements of Scotland’s small businesses during the most challenging of times through and since the pandemic. The First Minister stressed how important small businesses were to the Scottish economy.

Scottish and the UK Self-employed / Sole Trader of the Year Award Winners 2022

Inksters won both the Scottish and the UK Self-employed / Sole Trader of the Year Award 2022 for their innovative model that allows solicitors to flourish as sole traders operating under the Inksters’ umbrella. Inksters’ consultant solicitors do not need to worry about the back office operational work or regulatory matters. That is all taken care of for them by Inksters. They can run their own businesses under Inksters’ business and simply concentrate on what they are best at: the law. As Clare Balding said to Brian Inkster on stage at the FSB UK Awards on 19 May 2022:

I love that because you are like the perfect parent, you look after them and let them do what they want.

First Minister hears about Plug & Play Law

As well as the First Minister hearing about Plug & Play Law, Brian Inkster discussed with her the Legal Services Regulation Reform Bill to be introduced in 2022 /2023. There was also, in that conversation, time to discuss the delays in implementing the Legal Services (Scotland) Act 2010! Unfortunately, time did not allow a discussion on crofting law reform. Brian will have to save that one for next time.
